What is Budget Billing?
This program is available to Macon Municipal Utilities customers to even out their utility costs by paying the same amount each month.
When can customers sign up for Budget Billing?
Applications must be submitted during the months of March and April. Applications can be received at the Macon Municipal Utilities office at 106 W Bourke Street, Macon, MO 63552 or at www.maconutilities.com.
What are the eligibility criteria?
To be eligible for Budget Billing:
There must be a 12 month billing history at the service location.
The customer’s account must have zero balance. The customer must agree to pay the full budget amount each month be the due date. If full payment is not received or if payment is not processed due ot insufficient funds, MMU may return the customer to regular billing. The customer will not be eligible for Budget Billing until the next calendar year. Budget Billing accounts are not eligible for time extensions or payment agreements. Individuals that do not own their residence may participate in Budget Billing if a satisfactory deposit is on file. If it is determined that a customer does not have a good history with on-time payments, a customer’s Budget Billing request may be denied. How is the Budget Billing amount determined?
A service location’s 12-month average is used as the Budget Billing amount.
How often are Budget Billing amounts reviewed?
The amount is reviewed monthly and the amount may be adjusted at that time. The customer will be notified in writing if their Budget Billing amount is changed. However, account balances are reflected on the monthly statements and customers are responsible for monitoring their accounts as well.
When are accounts settled?
If a balance exists, it will be included in April’s statement. Credits will also carry-over to April’s statements.
When can customers discontinue Budget Billing?
Budget Billing may be discontinued during the year by notification from the customer.
