New Construction Information Sheet
City of Macon and Macon Municipal Utilities

* - For construction projects in the City of Macon, please check the following list to ensure you have all required licenses and permits, and all necessary fees have been paid.

* - Call Missouri One Call for location of existing utilities (1-800-344-7483).    

* - Blueprints for new structure reviewed and approved by building inspector.
Building inspector will measure and verify set backs, and confirm zoning is appropriate.

* - Electrical and/or mechanical blueprints reviewed and approved by appropriate
Utility’s distribution supervisor.

* - Application for Services completed with Macon Municipal Utilities.

* - Fees must be paid before any permits will be issued.
Water and Sewer taps – fee paid to Macon Municipal Utilities
    Water tap     $200.00
    Sewer tap         50.00

Gas installation – fee paid to Macon Municipal Utilities
    Flat fee of $100 plus $1.00 per foot for natural gas line (100 foot minimum**)
    New services outside the city limits will be charged time and materials.
** For services more than 100 feet in length, MMU will bill the contractor for additional feet after the line is installed.


Electric installation – fee paid to Macon Municipal Utilities
Underground residential service - flat fee of $100 plus $1.00 per foot for standard

200-amp service (100 foot minimum**)
Overhead residential service – flat fee of $100 plus $0.50 per foot (100 foot min**)
Residential service higher than 200-amp will be charged for time and materials.
Commercial/Industrial service – billed for time and materials
Additional poles if needed - $100 each
** For services more than 100 feet in length, MMU will bill the contractor for additional feet after the line is installed.
Generator installation – any electrical generator installation must be authorized by MMU (refer to MMU document “Basic Generator Installation Guidelines and Requirements” available at the utility office or on this web site)
    Generator permit – fee paid to Macon Municipal Utilities
        Residential                    $50
        Commercial/Industrial - up to 75 kw        $200    
                                        - over 75 kw        time and materials

* - Building Permits – fee paid to City of Macon
Fee based on square footage of structure and facilities installed
            
* - Permits issued by building inspector.
