MMU is a founding member of the Missouri Public Energy Pool (MoPEP) and receives electricity from the Pool’s resource portfolio, which includes clean coal, natural gas, wind, solar, hydro, and landfill gas. Macon’s water supply is Long Branch Lake which MMU had a part in its development in the 1970’s. Sixty percent of the water from the treatment plant is sold to customers outside the city limits and the remaining is utilized by residential, commercial, and industrial customers within the city limits.
